5.6.3 Maternity Policy

Istanbul Kültür University has comprehensive regulations designed to support women’s participation in institutional life and to maintain work–life balance during pre- and postnatal periods. For all employees, maternity leave, parental leave, unpaid leave, and part-time working rights are implemented in accordance with Labor Law (https://www.mevzuat.gov.tr/mevzuat?MevzuatNo=4857&MevzuatTur=1&MevzuatTertip=5 )No. 4857 and the Regulation on Part-Time Work Following Maternity or Unpaid Leave (https://www.resmigazete.gov.tr/eskiler/2016/11/20161108-11.htm).

Within this framework, female employees are entitled to a total of sixteen weeks of paid maternity leave—eight weeks before and eight weeks after childbirth. Following the maternity leave period, employees are also offered the option of up to six months of unpaid leave upon request.

By implementing these legal provisions, the university ensures employment continuity for female staff, supports their return to work after childbirth, and provides a family-friendly working environment that promotes participation and inclusivity.
