“BEING A WOMAN IN TODAY'S TÜRKİYE” PANEL TALK

A panel talk titled "Being a Woman in Today's Türkiye" was organised by Istanbul Kültür University Women and Social Research Unit (İKÜ-KAD) as a part of "8 March International Women's Day" events, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. The event, in which İKÜ Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver and İKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe made the opening speeches, was also attended by Republican People's Party Bakırköy Mayor Candidate Dr. Ayşegül Ovalıoğlu.

Istanbul Kültür University Women and Social Research Unit, within the scope of the 8 March International Women's Day activities, on Thursday, March 11 at 14:00, on Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application, together with the students of the Department of Communication Arts Main Art , made a presentation under the title "Woman in Cinema from the Past to the Present".In the presentation prepared by the graduate students with the analysis of films, how women, women's rights, gender equality and gender roles concepts are reflected and conveyed to the audience in important works in the history

"WOMEN'S DISCOURSE IN COMMUNICATION" E-SEMINAR

As March 8, International Women's Day approach, Istanbul Kültür University Women and Social Research Unit continues to hold informative seminars on women's issues in our country. Clinical Psychologist Şeyma Keçeli participated as a speaker in the e-seminar titled “Women's Discourse in Communication” held on Thursday, March 4, between 14: 00-15: 00 on Adobe Connect. In the event, discourses that are in our language but which are objectionable in the context of women's place in society and gender roles were discussed.

“STUDYING MEDIA CORRECTLY: BEAUTY AND WORRY IN YOUNGS”

Istanbul Kültür University Women and Social Research Unit (IKU-KAD), organized an e-seminar titled “Studying Media Correctly: Beauty and Worry in Youngs” on February 25, via Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application. In the event, in which Lecturer Yasemin Alpınar who studies about Healthcare Communications was the speaker; an informative presentation “beauty standards” forced by media especially to women, women’s unhealthy weight-loss habit and its dangerous aspects due to anxiety of not being liked, self-confidence among individuals, being comfortable in one’s skin.

PROF. DR. IŞIL ZEYBEK TALKED ABOUT THE INTRODUCTION OF GIRLS TO SCIENCE WITHIN THE SCOPE OF "STEM ROBOTICS OPEN LAB PROJECT FOR GIRLS”

Head of Women and Social Studies Unit (IKU-KAD) & Head of Department of Communication Arts Prof. Dr. Işıl Zeybek gave a training titled " Introduction Of Girls To Science At School Age " on Wednesday, February 10 at 14:00 in the "STEM Robotics OPEN LAB Project for Girls" held within the scope of the Direct Aid Program of Istanbul Büyükçekmece District Directorate of National Education and Australian Embassy. İKÜ-KAD Exhibition

The paintings created during the March 8 International Women's Day event organized by the İstanbul Kültür University Women and Social Research Unit (İKÜ-KAD) and supported by the Gender Equality Club were exhibited at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center foyer.

The paintings of our students were exhibited until April 20.
 

Women's Power Conference

To make women heard in social life and share their inspiring stories with wider audiences, Hürriyet Daily News organized a symposium titled Women's Power in the Raffles Hotel on March 5, 2018.

One of the supporters of the symposium, İstanbul Kültür University Chairperson of the Board of Overseers Bahar Akıngüç Günver made a speech, in which she shared her experiences in education and socio-cultural areas within the scope of “inspiring stories”.
