5.6.8. Policy preventing disadvantage for those reporting discrimination

Istanbul Kültür University has clear policies that ensure students or staff who report discrimination are not placed at a disadvantage in terms of education or employment. This principle is aligned with the core values outlined in Articles 7 and 16 of the Kültür Constitution (https://www.iku.edu.tr/en/kultur-constitution). These articles emphasize that the university adopts a democratic and multifaceted educational approach open to different opinions and perspectives and respects all thoughts and beliefs.

Within this framework, the protection of individuals who report discrimination is defined as an institutional responsibility. The Student Solution Center, operating under the Office of the Dean of Students, serves as a reporting mechanism that enables students to safely report incidents of discrimination. The center ensures the confidentiality of those who make a report and guarantees that they do not experience any disadvantages in academic or administrative processes.

Additionally, the university adopts a holistic approach to combating discrimination through various support structures such as student representatives, student clubs, the Psychological Counseling Unit, the Office for Students with Disabilities, and the Career Development Coordination Office. These mechanisms collectively promote student well-being and reinforce the university’s inclusive and equitable academic environment.
